6 Yummy Ways To Use Our Buttercream
When hunger strikes, we are often left staring into the abyss of our pantry and fridge wondering what we could possibly make to satisfied our taste buds, and quick! Here are a few ideas to get you through those snack time blues.
Two Words. Graham...Crackers
For a quick sweet treat, try spreading some buttercream over a Graham cracker!
Pro tip: use chocolate Graham crackers or dip graham cracker sandwich in melted chocolate for extra yumminess!
Want to put a twist on S'mores? Try replacing the chocolate bar with our chocolate buttercream. You can thank me later.
Have leftover cake? Crush that bad boy up and mix with some delicious buttercream to make cake pops! Once it is all mixed together, roll into balls, stick a lollipop stick in them, and chill for at least 1 hour. Melt a chocolate of your choice over a double boiler. When the cake pops are chill, dip them in the chocolate to completely coat them. Place on parchment or wax paper and chill until the chocolate is set. Viola! Cake pops! For extra fun, roll them in sprinkles before the chocolate sets.
Pro tip: when choosing your chocolate, pick one that is made from cocoa butter and not vegetable or other oils. Cocoa butter helps the chocolate to stay smooth and creamy when melting and creates a glossy finish!
Sandwiches come in all shapes and sizes but my personal favorite is a cookie and frosting sandwich! Pile a cookie of your choice high with buttercream, top with another cookie, and enjoy!
Pro tip: if you're feeling adventurous, my homemade chocolate chip cookie recipe can be found here.
Cinnamon Roll Glaze
Cinnamon rolls are perhaps the greatest pastry to ever exist. Yup, I said it! A pastry this delicious deserves an equally delicious icing! Put a small amount of buttercream into a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 5 second intervals, stirring each time, until it reaches a drizzling consistency. Spread or drizzle over your cinnamon rolls and enjoy!
Pro tip: add a touch of cinnamon and brown sugar to your buttercream before microwaving to get some extra cinnamon-y goodness.
Yeah, we had to put this one in here! I mean, it's CAKE! Traditionally, buttercream is used for covering and decorating cakes. Simply spread the frosting over your cake and decorate as desired!
Pro tip: make sure your cakes are COMPLETELY cooled! A warm cake makes the frosting melt off, and that's just a sad sight to see.
Cheesecake. Need I say more? Eat with pretzels, strawberries, a spoon, we aren't picky. Mix 4oz (1/2 cup) of buttercream with 8oz of cream cheese and you've got yourself one stunner of a party dip! Or keep it all to yourself. We won't judge.
Pro tip: splurge for the full-fat cream cheese. Your taste buds will thank you.
